FIND BETTER REST WITH EVIDENCE-BASED INSOMNIA TREATMENT

Lying awake with a mind that won't switch off can feel exhausting and isolating. For many people, the problem isn't tiredness. It's a mind that starts racing the moment the lights go out, or worry about the night ahead that begins hours before bed. Checking the clock and dreading bedtime can keep the cycle going long after the original trigger has passed.

At Invictus Counseling, our counselors specialize in anxiety and anxiety-related challenges, including insomnia. Our therapists bring advanced training, ongoing supervision, and access to expert consultation to every step of treatment.

Using proven methods including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), iCBT, anxiety sensitivity work, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we help you reduce the anxiety that builds around bedtime and rebuild a workable relationship with rest.

WHAT IS INSOMNIA?

An occasional bad night is normal. When falling asleep, staying asleep, or getting back to sleep becomes a nightly struggle, it may be insomnia.

Insomnia is often driven by worry, mental reviewing, and problem-solving at bedtime. Poor rest and anxiety feed each other: less rest lowers your ability to manage stress, and higher stress makes insomnia worse.

Over time, insomnia can limit energy, focus, mood, and relationships. The good news is that the anxiety and habits behind it can be reduced with practical, evidence-based therapy.

Trouble Falling & Staying Asleep

Difficulty falling asleep, waking through the night, or lying awake in the early hours is often driven by worry, mental reviewing, and problem-solving at bedtime. The harder you try to sleep, the more awake you can feel. Counseling helps you step out of that cycle and reduce the effort that keeps you awake.

Anxiety About Sleep

Once bedtime becomes a source of stress, checking the clock, calculating hours left, and dreading the night can take hold. This anxiety often keeps insomnia going long after the original trigger has passed. Counseling helps reduce that pressure and the behaviors that reinforce it.

Insomnia & Anxiety Together

Poor rest and anxiety feed each other. Less rest lowers your ability to manage stress, and higher stress makes insomnia worse. Because we specialize in anxiety, our clinicians treat both sides of that cycle rather than one in isolation.

OUR EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH TO INSOMNIA TREATMENT

ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT) & iCBT
These approaches engage the cognitive side of how anxiety impacts your mental wellness. They help you respond differently to the racing thoughts and worry that surface at night.

EXPOSURE & RESPONSE PREVENTION (ERP)
ERP helps you gradually reduce clock checking, reassurance seeking, and other nighttime safety behaviors. Over time, bedtime stops feeling like something to manage.

ANXIETY SENSITIVITY WORK
Physical sensations such as a racing heart or restlessness can surface at bedtime. Anxiety sensitivity work reduces the fear of those sensations so they lose their hold.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
CBT helps you identify and challenge the thought patterns and habits that keep insomnia going. It often includes goal-oriented exercises and practice between sessions so you make real progress.
