SPECIALIZED CARE FOR ANXIETY ALONGSIDE LIFE'S OTHER CHALLENGES

iStock-1339635233.jpg

Anxiety and OCD rarely show up on their own. Many of the people we work with are also navigating an eating disorder, pregnancy or new parenthood, a neurodivergent brain, or a long-term health condition. When anxiety is tied to another condition or life stage, general care doesn't always fit.

At Invictus Counseling, our counselors specialize in anxiety and anxiety-related challenges. Alongside that core focus, several of our clinicians bring additional training in specific areas. These subspecialties vary by clinician, so we'll match you with the therapist whose training fits your needs.

Using proven methods including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), iCBT, anxiety sensitivity work, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we provide care shaped around your situation, all in a compassionate, supportive environment.

WHAT ARE SUBSPECIALTIES?

A subspecialty is an area a clinician has additional training in, beyond our practice-wide focus on anxiety and OCD.

These areas are subspecialties rather than practice-wide services, and they vary by clinician. Each therapist's profile lists the ages, populations, approaches, and diagnoses they work with.

Because these areas are therapist-dependent, the right match matters. If you're not sure who to choose, contact us and we'll help you find the therapist whose training best fits your situation.

Eating Disorders

Difficulties with food, eating, and body image are often driven by anxiety, rigid rules, and a need for control. Clinicians trained in this area work with these concerns alongside the anxiety that fuels them, and coordinate with medical providers when appropriate. Learn more on our Body & Eating Issues page.

Perinatal

Pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood can bring intrusive thoughts, heightened worry, and fears about harm coming to the baby. These experiences are far more common than most parents realize and are highly treatable. Clinicians trained in perinatal care provide support without judgment. Perinatal OCD is also covered on our OCD Counseling page.

Neurodiversity

Autistic and ADHD clients experience anxiety differently, and standard approaches often need adjusting. Treatment should fit how you process information, routine, and sensory input. Clinicians trained in this area adapt treatment to you rather than expecting you to

adapt to the treatment.

OUR EVIDENCE-BASED APPROACH TO SPECIALTY CARE

ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT) & iCBT
These approaches engage the cognitive side of how anxiety impacts your mental wellness. They help you respond differently to anxiety tied to your condition or life stage.

EXPOSURE & RESPONSE PREVENTION (ERP)
ERP helps you gradually and safely face feared situations. At the same time, it reduces avoidance and reassurance seeking.

ANXIETY SENSITIVITY WORK
Physical sensations often accompany anxiety and can feel alarming on their own. Anxiety sensitivity work reduces the fear of those sensations.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
CBT helps you identify and challenge the thought patterns that fuel anxiety. It often includes goal-oriented exercises and practice between sessions so you make real progress.
